NEUROPATHOLOGICAL ASPECT OF THE VISUAL AFEREN PATHWAYS
Keywords:
Aferen Visual Pathway, visual field disturbancesAbstract
The visual pathway functions to receive and transmit visual information in the form of impulses to the cortex. The visual process begins with the interpretation of light entering the eye and captured by the retina until it becomes specific visual information in the brain. The formation of an image on thr retina depends on the refractive ability of the eye. Light rays that reach the retina are converted into nerve impulses. Impulses that arise will be delivered to the visual cortex to be analyzed and interpreted to produce a good picture of vision and visual fields. The Disturbed visual pathway structures will cause various visual disturbances, including visual field disturbances in patients. The disturbance that occurs depends on where the damage to the anatomical structure of the visual pathway location.
