Abstract

 The increasing number of elderly population provides benefits if the elderly are healthy, tough and strong. Early detection related to decreased cognitive function in pre-elderly period is needed so that efforts to inhibit the progression of the disorder are immediately carried out to maintain functional function in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to describe cognitive function and cognitive domains in pre-elderly group. This type of research is descriptive. The sample was selected by a non-probability sampling method with total sampling technique and 60 subjects were obtained. This research was conducted at Pos Binaan Terpadu Puskesmas Kopelma Darussalam which covered 5 villages namely the villages of Lamgugob, Ie Masen Kayee Adang, Kopelma, Rukoh and Deah Raya. The instrument used in this study was MoCA-Ina and data collection was conducted by interview. The results showed that 55% of pre-elderly group had abnormal cognitive function and 45% normal. Domains that decreased in abnormal subjects were delayed memory (97%) executive function (93.9%), attention (78.8%), language (75.8%), and visuospatial (48.5%). While the domains that decreased in normal subjects were delayed memory (88.9%), language (44.4%), executive function (40.7%), attention (22.2%), and visuospatial (14.8%). The conclusion of this study was that there was a decrease in cognitive function in pre-elderly group at Puskesmas Kopelma Darussalam which was dominated by a decrease in the memory domain.
