Abstrak

Case report: Salivary gland malignancies have an estimated incidence of 0.5-2.5 per 100,000 people. Most arise from the parotid gland (70–80%), with the remainder arising from the submandibular gland (10%) or the sublingual and minor salivary glands (5%). The most common sites for metastasis are the lungs (80%), bones (15%), and the liver and other sites (5%). This case illustrates the incidence of metastatic cancer in the brain originating from parotid salivary gland cancer. Patients initially suffer from a bump on the front of the right ear which gradually enlarges slowly starting from November 2017 to January 2019 and the patient performs surgical removal and histopathological examination 3 times with the results of epithelial malignant tumors with non keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma. Patients experience seizures that began with headache and weakness of the left side of the limbs which is getting heavier in July 2019 and a CT scan is performed with a brain metastasis is found. Patients experience shortness of breath and chest X-ray examination is performed in September 2019 and found a picture of a left lung tumor. This case report shows that the patient experienced a parotid salivary gland malignancy followed by metastasis to the brain first then to the lungs, wherein the literature says that the incidence rate of salivary gland malignancy itself is quite small and most malignant metastases to the lungs indicate the rarity of this case so the authors report this case as a reference.
